A movie great passed away today. He was before my time, but i thought it worth noting since I've heard so many references to him over the years and figure i should start this movie blog out with something significant. The world lost a well renowned director at the age of 89, today. Director Ingmar Bergman was known as a director that touched both tormented and tender audiences around the world. Bergman spent a lifetime creating lonely and windswept movies: a cinema of inner life in which man was tormented by his relationship with women and with God.  Ingmar also wrote in a essay back in 1965; this famous quote, “a language that literally is spoken from soul to soul in expressions that, almost sensuously, escape the restrictive control of the intellect.”
